Tidying Up Cottonwood

Members of the
Friends of Cottonwood organization are committed
to keeping Cottonwood neat and tidy. Among
its projects is one involving cleaning up a
particular street. Here, members of the
Friends of Cottonwood gather on a late August
morning to do a "clean sweep" of Tenth Street in
Cottonwood.

Individual
members of the Friends of Cottonwood have been
working on improving Cottonwood's existing sign
ordinance. shoddy, poorly designed, and
inappropriately placed signs give Cottonwood
visitors the wrong message about our town.

Working with the City on Conservation
Projects
On May 21, 2006 the Friends of
Cottonwood submitted a draft Water Conservation and Management
Policy Guidelines document to the Mayor and City Council
Members.
In the Document, the Friends
of Cottonwood proposed guidelines for landscaping, installation
of water efficient plumbing and appliances, suggestions for
water saving practices and suggestions for how the City of
Cottonwood could provide on-going public education.
City officials agree that
there are some "really good ideas" listed in the document.
Some of the more specific
suggestions in the draft document include using of rainwater
harvesting techniques and graywater for landscaping, installing
waterless urinals and display water conservation signage in
public restrooms, and install hot water recirculation plumbing
systems.
